On grid solar systems generate power using a solar power system and are connected to the supply power grid where the green energy is pumped back to the grid and the consumption is billed deducting the energy pumped back.

Off grid solar systems have batteries which can store the solar power generated by the system. The panels convert sunlight to power during the day and store the excess unused power to batteries which can be consumed at night.
